The role of Allied Health Assistants in a novel, interdisciplinary model of care for people living in residential aged care
Andy Richardson
The role of Allied Health Assistants in residential aged care
The Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety made recommendations to improve the quality and quantity of allied health services in residential aged care.
This webinar will describe a research project that has embedded an allied health model of care into a residential aged care home, using an integrated, interdisciplinary approach to reduce frailty and falls and improve physical function and quality of life for residents.
This webinar will focus specifically on the role of allied health assistants in the delivery of care across multiple disciplines (an interdisciplinary approach).
The results of this project show that the model is feasible and can be delivered effectively and efficiently by allied health assistants.
This model of care can be used by aged care providers as an effective way to deliver allied health services in residential aged care.
This webinar will include time for Q&A and discussion.
At the completion of the webinar, attendees will:
Be aware of a novel, interdisciplinary model of care being implemented in residential aged care
Know the advanced role of allied health assistants in delivering care across disciplines
Be inspired to investigate new ways that allied health assistants are working in residential aged care
